Richard is one of the best things to come from the Wednesday Youth Academy in recent times. The young defender has made his way through the ranks and made his first team debut during the 2002/03 season.
His progression as a player was steady during the following season and throughout the 2004/05 season was a first team regular at the back, forming a close partnership with Graeme Lee.
Wood has made the step up to Championship football well despite tough competition for places at the back. Despite interest from time to time from other clubs Richard's future seems to be with Wednesday. For now. |
