In the midst of an all too familiar striker crisis Owls boss Brian Laws turned to Chelsea teenager Ben Sahar to help fire Wednesday away from the relegation zone. The 18 year old is an Israeli international and the youngest to have ever scored at full level.
Sahar, signed by Jose Mourinho in 2006, has made five substitute appearances for Chelsea but more recently spent three months on loan at London neighbours Queens Park Rangers, where he made a further nine appearances without scoring.
Laws was clearly delighted to have secured the short term signing of a talented young international player. "Ben Sahar is a young player, but he's played for Chelsea and he has played for Israel at full international level, so we know he has plenty of quality."
"Having to ask players to come out of their comfort zone is not always easy, but the fact Ben wants to come here and show us he's all about tells us he is coming here for the right reasons." |
