| Summed up in a few words... Lucas was made a permanent mamber of the squad in May 2004 after two successful loan spells at Hillsborough during the 2003/04 season. It took a reported £1 million to lure him from Preston North End at the same but Lucas was one of the stars of the season in Wednesday's promotion campaign the following season. His third season with the club was to be his last. A knee injury forced Paul Sturrock to bring two loan keepers to the club in Nicky Weaver (Manchester City) and then Scott Carson (Liverpool). When Lucas' contract ran out in the summer of 2006 but he turned down Wednesday's new offer and left the club after having made 81 appearances. |
