Summed up in a few words...
Collins enjoyed mixed fortunes in his two seasons with the club after signing on a free transfer from Sunderland before the 2004/05 season. The right-back, who was also used as a centre-back on a number of occasions, was a regular in the side up until the end of the season when on loan Alex Bruce from Birmingham City took his place in the side. Collins did however replace Bruce in the Play-Off final against Hartlepool United.
Owls manager Paul Sturrock did not feel Collins was capable of the step-up to Championship football the following season and the young Geordie made just three appearances. He was sent out on loan to League One side Swindon Town for four months of the season and when the season finished an agreement was made with League Two club Darlington and Collins was transferred. |
