| Summed up in a few words... "Big Ron" brought Alex to Hillsborough during his second spell as Owls boss in the 1997/98 season. The £750,000 shelled out to Swedish side IFK Gothenburg turned out to be a total steal - Wednesday sold him for three and a half times that to Everton two and a half years later. During that time the Swedish international made the right side of Wednesday's midfield his own - clocking up 85 appearances and scoring a dozen times. Wednesday's relegation from the Premier League at the end of 1999/00 season spelt the end of Owls careers for a number of players, including Alex. Toffees' boss Walter Smith splashed out to take Alex to Goodison Park where he was to spend four seasons. |
