Clarke was Brian Laws' first signing as Owls manager in a deal worth a quarter of a million that brought him from the Midlands. The 6"2 forward was a product of the Wolves youth system and after making his debut during the 2003/04 season he had brief loan spells with Kidderminster, Plymouth and QPR.
After 83 appearances for Wolves, mainly as a substitute, and 15 goals Clarke signed for Wednesday in a two year deal. He joined the Owls as a replacement for the departing Drew Talbot.
Clarke was work to do to convince fans he is worth the transfer fee after a less than impressive showing in his first ten appearances in an Owls shirt at the end of the 2006/07 season. His only goal to date came at Ninian Park in a 2-1 win over Cardiff. |
