| Owls boss Paul Sturrock made Burton his first permanent signing of 2006 and in doing so laid his faith in Burton to be the man to score the goals needed to keep the Owls in the Championship. Burton, not yet 30, has bags of experience having played over 200 league games in a career that started on the south coast with Portsmouth back in 1994. The Jamaican international has played for a handful of clubs on loan spells but made a name for himself at Derby County in scoring 28 goals in 93 first team starts for the Rams. Deon enjoyed his best period for the Owls in the second half of last season as he ended up as second top scorer at the club with 12 goals from 43 league and cup appearances. |
