Chris Brunt was an unknown 19 year old when the Owls picked him up on a free after being released by Middlesbrough. He made his debut in March 2004, under the reign of Chris Turner, but in the following season began to make his first inroads as a first team player under Paul Sturrock's promotion successful squad of 2005/06.
Since then Brunt's progress has continued at Championship level. Undoubtedly a very skillful player, Brunt is often guilty of being inconsistent with his form and drifting in and out of games.
Brunt is strong on his left foot but weak on his right and naturally plays as a left-winger. He is something of a dead ball specialist and has a strong long distance shot on him.
During the summer there have been numerous reports linking Brunt with a move to the Premier League but the youngster went on record saying that he will honour his current contract unless the club wish to sell. Undoubtedly, he is the type of player Brian Laws must keep this season should Wednesday wish to stage a serious promotion push. |
