Summed up in a few words...

"You'll never beat The Beever" was the chant from the Owls fans in the 17 year old's full first team debut at St Marys Stadium at the end of January during the 06/07 season. Beevers, born down the road in Barnsley, has been with the club since he was 12 years old and has steadily made his way through the youth grades before breaking into the Under 18s and last season becoming a regular in the Reserve team.

When Brian Laws was stumped with a lack of cover at centre back he had no hesitation in rewarding Beevers with his debut. The tall centre-back played brilliantly and was commended after the match for his fantastic attitude by the Owls boss.

With number one centre-back Richard Wood out of the equation due to injury Beevers was handed further first team opportunities during the current season and has done more than enough to prove he can be a quality player for Wednesday for some years to come.

The 18 year old has been a regular in the first team since the turn of the year and picked up the Player of the Month Award for January. On top of that he has received call ups to the England Under 19 squad and is enlisted as a candidate for the nationwide 'Trainee of the Year' award.

With a number of top clubs rumoured to be showing interested The Owls showed their ambition, and Beevers too, by extending his contract up until 2012.
