Wednesday in wonderland at the Walkers
The Owls secured a famous win at the Walkers Stadium to massively boost their hopes of playing Championship football next season. Defeat at fellow strugglers Blackpool last weekend had plumeted Wednesday into deep trouble of facing a return to League One football for the second time in three seasons, but Brian Laws' side responded in superb fashion to take control of their own destiny in the fight for survival.

Laws had suffered further injury problems in midweek with the news that Burton O'Brien would sit out the rest of the season, while veterans Steve Watson and Lee Bullen played despite still recovering from injuries. The Owls boss started with a 4-4-2 formation but just minutes into the game deployed a 4-2-1-3 formation to confuse Leicester and attack from the wings.

The early signs weren't good as the home side, in front of the division's highest attendance of the season of just under 32,000, took an 8th minute lead. A defensive mix up between Lee Grant and Bullen let in Iain Hume to open the scoring and pile the pressure on Wednesday.

Relegation permutations
As predicted by many a number of weeks ago the Championship fight for survival has come down to the last day of the season. An amazing 3-1 victory away to Leicester last weekend has thrown Wednesday's destiny back into their own hands, but Southampton's surprise draw at promotion chasing West Brom means a draw at home to Norwich will not guarantee safety without help elsewhere.

These are the possible outcomes for the Owls this Sunday:

Win v Norwich: Safety
Draw v Norwich: Safety if Leicester or Southampton draw or lose.
Defeat v Norwich: Safety if Leicester lose or Southampton draw or lose

The golden rule for Brian Laws' side is victory over the Canaries will secure safety no matter what happens elsewhere. The second rule is the Owls must match the result of Leicester or Southampton to stay up. If Southampton lose at home to rivals Sheffield Utd then it won't matter what happens at Hillsborough.

For Wednesday to be relegated both Leicester and Southampton would have to win and Wednesday draw or lose. Leicester are away to second placed Stoke City, still chasing for an automatic promotion spot, while the Saints host the Blades who can still mathematically reach the play-offs.

Blackpool and Coventry City are also not mathematically safe from the drop to League One. Those two sides face the unlikely but not impossible scenario of losing and being relegated should Wednesday, Leicester and Southampton all win on Sunday. Sit tight, it's all to play for.

Bullen out, and on his way
Club captain and Hillsborough hero Lee Bullen has played his final game for the club. The veteran Scottish defender played his part in Wednesday's 3-1 win at Leicester on Saturday but lasted just half a game after receiving pain killing injections on a hamstring injury just to start the match.

Bullen's one year contract, his third in as many years with the club, expires in the summer and the 35 year old has been told his playing contract will not be renewed.

The defender has made just shy of 150 appearances for Wednesday in four years but will sit nervously amongst a sold out Hillsborough crowd for the final game of the season. No matter the outcome of Sunday's game Lee will no doubt receive a standing ovation from the home faithful for his tremendous service to the club.

The former Dunfermline Athletic man played a key role in helping Wednesday back into the Championship in his first season at the club and since signing in July 2004 has played in every position for Wednesday, including goalkeeper.

Packed Hillsborough expected for grand finale
A sold out crowd is expected for Wednesday's season finale at home to Norwich City after club officials slashed ticket prices to encourage a booster attendance for the vital fixture.

Ticket prices for anywhere in the ground have been cut to an impressive £10 for Adults and £5 for Kids but it is expected that the club will announce a sell-out tomorrow after a massive response from Wednesday fans.

Last weekend's 31,892 at the Walkers Stadium between the Owls and Leicester was the biggest attendance in the Championship this season, but that could be beaten with a bumper crowd of around 35,000 or more this Sunday.

Crowds have been down this season after the sale of key players last summer and off the field problems between the Chairman and supporters groups. Victory and Championship safety this weekend in front of thousands of returning fans, coupled with the news the club is within weeks of a takeover, could be the incentive to purchase a season ticket for the 08/09 season.
