Just found owl eggs and the dead mother how do i hatch the eggs and care for the babies?
I went out to go bird-watching in my backyard and saw a dead owl. I buried it, and then i found six owl eggs(I know they are owl eggs because there was a baby owl on the floor next to them). Could anyone tell me or give me a website that will tell me how to hatch the owl eggs and how to care for the hatched owlet? Please help, i can’t find any info on this anywhere.
Hoo Hoo Hoo knows
Call the humane society. They have the equipment and the training to deal with things like that. You would need an incubator.
you will need a incubator and place them in incubator at 36.8 degree Celsius and feed the babies a mashed backyard insects recipe mixed with a little amount of water
call a wildlife rehabber they can hatch out the eggs and place the baby owl with another family of owls. these guys don’t make good pets, they also are not fun when they hit maturity as imprints. an angry amorous owl thinking humans are what it is, is not something to shake a stick at.
male owls also will look after the nest so sit back and watch the owl for a day, if it looks like it isn’t getting fed then put the baby in a box with a hotwater bottle and drive it to a rehabber. do not feed the owl unless directed to by a rehabber. feeding just meat to a baby can cause it to have terrible metabolic issues, weakened bones.
don’t go to a local humane society, they usually dont take in wildlife.
call your locl fish and wildlife department for a list of rehabbers.
if you are in minnesota call the University of MN Raptor Center
