Late Bhoys show as Owls steal win Queens Park Rangers 1-2 Wednesday - by Dale Johnson Queens Park Rangers 1-2 Wednesday - by Al Frith Queens Park Rangers 1-2 Wednesday - by Kevin MooreThe Owls kicked off their 1999/00 pre-season programme with a late win against First Division side Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road. Danny Wilson had left out first team regulars Emerson Thome, Andy Hinchcliffe - as well as new signings Simon Donnelly, Phil O'Donnell, Gildes de Bilde and Gerald Sibon. It was a quiet first half with both teams obviously not at full fitness at this stage - the scores even at the break. Half-time: Q.P.R 0-0 Owls Wednesday almost changed the team completely at half-time - and the number of changes seemed to backfire on the Owls when Rangers took the lead ten minutes into the second half, Kevin Gallen heading in on 54 minutes. The Owls plugged back and with just four minutes left Belgian Gilles de Bilde crossed in from the left for ex-Celtic midfielder Phil O'Donnell to head in, with suspicions of a Tim Breaker own goal, to make it 1-1. The win was sealed two minutes later when the other Scottish summer signing, striker Simon Donnelly, scored with a one-on-one with Rangers keeper Bankhole. |
