Match Report

Owls push aside poor Rovers

Danny Wilson described this win over Blackburn as the best performance by the Owls so far this season. The score and scorers were identical to that of the other win so far this season for Wednesday when they beat Tottenham 3-0 a few weeks ago.

Wednesday started well and almost scored in the first few minutes from Carbone. They opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Atherton volleyed in from close range from a cleared Booth effort. It was 2-0 with 10 mins before half-time when Hinchcliffe scored his 2nd of the season with another great free-kick.

Blackburn were outplayed on the day and never really looked like scoring and their fate was sealed when DiCanio scored with only minutes remaining.

Half-time: Owls 2-0 Blackburn
