Rotherham inflict first defeat for Reserves

The Owls Reserve side were narrowly beaten for the first time this season after an 80th minute winner by Liam King saw Rotherham win the local derby in the Pontins League. With the senior side having played less than 24 hours before hand manager Russ Wilcox had mainly youngsters and academy players at his disposal.

There were however run outs for first team fringe players Rob Burch, Peter Gilbert, Etienne Esajas and Kenny Lunt.

The result brought an end to Wednesday's 100% winning start to the Reserve season.

Wilcox verdict:

"It was a shame we didn't scrape out a draw because I think we could have got something from the game."

"But it was a good fitness exercise and another chance for the younger lads to get some more reserve team football under the belt."
