Tykes come out on top in tight derby

The Owls Reserves sunk to their second defeat of the season after a close local derby encounter with Barnsley at Oakwell. The game's only goal came late on from Kim Christensen leaving an experienced Wednesday side disappointed to have come away with nothing.

With international fixtures due this weekend The Owls took the opportunity to give a number of first team fringe players a chance to impress.

McAuley verdict:

"Both sides fielded a strong starting line-up for the Oakwell clash and a late goal from the Tykes Kim Christensen proved the difference on the afternoon."

"Our lads were really disappointed with the result because they enjoyed the game, worked very hard and played some good football. Mark Beevers was replaced by Sam Liversidge late on after he twisted and hurt his hip but it was just a precautionary measure."
