Owls and Sky Blues battle out a point a piece

The Owls dropped back into the relegation zone of the Championship table but manager Brian Laws claims the point is a better result for his side than Coventry City. The stalemate at the Ricoh Arena keeps Wednesday a point away from safety and with two games in hand over a number of clubs scrapping for Championship status next season. One of those games includes the return fixture against the Sky Blues at Hillsborough, which has already been called off twice this season due to the weather.

Wednesday's best chance of the game fell to on-loan winger Franck Songo'o shortly before half time but Casper Schmeichel, son of Manchester United legend Peter and on loan from their rivals Manchester City, denied him his first goal since joining temporarily from Portsmouth.

The Owls had Lee Grant to thank for a result here though. The Owls number one made two top draw saves in the final quarter of an hour to ensure Wednesday headed back north with a point. One of those included a finger tip save to deny Michael Mifsud's 20 yard effort.

Laws verdict:

"On current form we have as good a chance of anybody of surviving. It's a better result for us than it is for Coventry no doubt about it."

"Over the last six or seven games we're probably one of the most in-form teams and we won't get out of this position unless we work really hard, which we did."

"Our defence has been excellent in the second half of the season but unfortunately up front we haven't matched our defence."
