Tudgay shows the winning touch

Owls striker Marcus Tudgay marked his return from injury with a winner for the Reserves as they beat Walsall 2-1 at home. The visitors had taken an early lead through Tony Bedeau but Wednesday went in level pegging at the break after a Kenny Lunt penalty. Walsall's Emmanuele Smith handballed in the box and the summer signing from Crewe sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot.

Tudgay scored the winner at the back post shortly before the hour mark and although Saturday's trip to Southend United may come too soon, the former Derby man has two fixtures the following week to aim for. Midfielder Steve Adams continued his steady progress back to match fitness, playing the full 90 minutes of this one after precautionary substitutions in the previous two outings for the reserves.
