Owls kick off US tour with a draw

The Owls drew the opening match of their three-game tour of the USA with North Carolina based side Wilmington Hammerheads. Over 1000 travelling Owls supporters were there to see Kenny Lunt's first goal in Wednesday colours. The summer signing from Crewe finished from close range late on to steal a draw for the Owls, after Chris Bagley had drawn first blood for the visitors.

Amazingly the match was delayed for over an hour when a severe storm lashed the stadium. Lee Bullen captained an Owls side missing a handful of first team players, replaced with Academy youngsters such as Tommy Spurr and Sean McAllister.

Wednesday taken on the USL 1st Division All Stars next up.

AnzOwls' verdict: With so many first team players back home injured this tour has had it's bubbled popped before it's started. Nice for Kenny Lunt to show the fans what he can do first game up.
