the report

Howard the hell that happen!

Ten men Derby stunned the Owls with a late, late injury time winner through Steve Howard. The burly forward fired past Chris Adamson, in for the injured Brad Jones, to complete a remarkable turn around in events following the 74th minute of County sub Barnes.

The Owls had taken the lead thanks to Chris Brunt's second in three games - the Northern Ireland international finding space to turn and shoot from a long Tommy Spurr throw-in. Canadian forward Paul Peschisolido grabbed a scrappy equaliser just five minutes after Derby had been reduced in numbers, before Howard went on to secure all three points four minutes into injury time.

Owls fans will find little to smile about after another well below performance and will perhaps pray that Steven MacLean, Drew Talbot and Barry Corr, who made returning appearances in the second half, will help score the goals needed to turn around what is increasingly becoming a dull season.

Sturrock verdict:

"I am absolutely gut-wrenched for the fans. They'll be as sick as parrots. There's no excuse for the shambolic defending in the last 10 minutes. We had four different opportunities to clear the first goal. The second was just unbelievable."

"After going a goal up and having Derby down to 10 men, we went 10 yards back."
