Tudgay snatches Selhurst winner

Match Report.

Ratings v Palace:
Turner
8
Made a handful of top draw saves. Could do little with Morrison's close range header.
Bullen
7
Defended solidly and got forward well. Still good enough to be in this team.
Gilbert
7
Looks more assure than Tommy Spurr at left-back. Made some important challenges.
Watson
7
Solid at the back. Experience looked invaluable.
Wood
8
Read the game well. Was strong in the air and partnered well with Watson
Tudgay
7
Would've been a 6 but for his late winner. Awful in the first half.
Whelan
9
Top draw performance. Distribution was excellent, put himself about brilliantly and showed good awareness. Man of the Match.
Lunt
7
Ran the middle of the park alongside the brilliant Whelan.
Brunt
7
It's been said before - but drifted in and out of the game. Cross for Burton's header was top class.
Burton
8
Worked like a dog all afternoon and fully deserved his goal.
MacLean
6
Disappointing from MacLean. Looked slow and never looked like scoring.

Folly
6
Only got a couple of minutes at the end.
Spurr
6
See above.

The Gaffer
7
Didn't have many attacking options on the bench but after coming under a lot of criticism early in the year, has steered the Owls back into a rich vein of form.
The Support
9
Brilliant all afternoon. Heaps of noise. Shame about the ground.
The Officials
6
Was very soft all afternoon for both teams, but especially seemed to award a lot to the home team in the first half.

Overall: A brilliant performance and fully deserved win by Wednesday. The play-offs might be out of reach, but you wouldn't have thought so on this showing.
Laws verdict:

"It's a great win and I am really pleased. We knew it was going to be a tough game."

"
I read comments by Peter Taylor before the game saying he wanted to win every game to get into the play-offs."

"I thought that if he is thinking like that, then why can't we do it? My players are certainly not switching off. If we can get around 70 points we will be in with a shout."
