Paul Sturrock's post match comments:
"I'm obviously gutted for the fans. We're a very young team and for 25 minutes we got a rude awakening. Some of them didn't handle it very well. As the game unfolded I was pleased with their performance. It would have been very easy for some of those young ones to capitulate after that first 20 minutes but they were still there at the end. We're trying to develop a team over six months, whereas they've developed their over six years."

"I thought they had gelled together very well by the end. Woody has had a couple of indifferent games but he was excellent today. Him and Coughlan looked a fine pairing and Gilbert did well for a debut. I want to play with that back four now. I want it settled, with no injuries, and I want that back four to play the next six games."

"The fans were absolutely fantastic. They will be gutted tonight but I'm very hopeful they will be appreciative there was an attitude and work-rate to their team."

Neil Warnock (Blades manager)'s post match comments:
"It's been a somewhat traumatic week but a great result in the end. We made hard work of it. We had some great opportunities. Wednesday must have been delighted to have lost 1-0. We must give them credit, but I never thought they would score."
