Match Report

Corr blimey

Young Irishman Barry Corr his his first team chances no harm with a fine individual performance at home to Stoke. His 66th minute side foot volley gave Mark Smith's side victory after the former Leeds United man had been denied by the Stoke defence on a number of occasions.

Once again Smith had the luxury of a number of senior players available to him. Paul Heckingbottom played a full 90 minutes in his road to recovery, whilst Richard Wood, Lee Bullen, Burton O'Brien and Ritchie Partridge also played full games.

Half-time: Owls 0-0 Stoke

Mark Smith's post match comments:
"I thought the lads did well. I was very pleased with the attitude of the older players and there were decent performances from some of the younger kids. The first 15 minutes were even-steven, then we gradually got on top and spent most of the remainder of the first half in their half. We created a couple of half chances but I told them at half-time that we need to score when we get on top like that."

"We carried it on in the second half and scored at the right time. Barry took it well. It started with Burton in midfield, a diagonal pass out to Richie Partridge. He cut inside and put in a great left-foot ball, Barry had peeled off and finished it really well. It is a difficult technique as he was stretching a bit on his weaker side."
