When Wednesday Win, United Lose...

This report from the official site:

A last-minute goal from Kyle Jordan earned the Owls victory over city rivals Sheffield United's 'A' reserve team in the Pontin's League derby at Hillsborough. The young academy striker displayed his poaching instincts and a cool head to race in, turn and shoot home with practically the last kick of the game after Lee Bullen's arcing long-range shot was palmed out by Phil Barnes.

Both sides had earlier had leads cancelled out with Wednesday recovering from Jonathan Forte's early strike to lead thanks to goals from Drissa Diallo (22) and Scott Ellis (66), before Simon Francis struck ten minutes from time. The game got off to a lively start with tackles flying in and United gained a ninth minute lead when Forte was in the perfect place to drive in a fine right-wing centre from Colin Marrison.

Wednesday fought back with Barry Corr twice forcing the Blades defence to block before the Owls levelled with Diallo rising to plant a header high into the top corner of the net from Burton O'Brien's corner. Marrison tested Adamson with a looping effort and also fired over after Hao Haidong headed Forte's cross back to him.

The Owls were denied just past the half-hour as Phil Barnes reacted well to paw Corr's header out from under his crossbar after the Irishman towards goal. The Blades stopper also reacted well to hold Bullen's well-struck volley down to his right after United failed to clear the danger. Wednesday had a real let-off soon afterwards as Haidong sent a free header wide from Kyle Nix's corner when unmarked while David Graham was narrowly wide at the other end from O'Brien's flicked header.

The Blades came close when Forte turned his shot wide from Marrison's deflected cross before Wednesday got their noses in front as Ellis smashed into Barnes' bottom right-hand corner from Richard Evans' left-flank delivery.

The lead was to prove shortlived as United levelled matters in the 80th minute as Francis steered home a header from Michael Tonge's corner. Undeterred, the Owls kept going and Bullen's header clipped a post before they got their reward as Jordan struck at the death to claim the derby spoils.

Half-time: Owls 1-1 Blades
