Match Report

MacLean on the spot

Steven MacLean staked his claim to be recalled to the first team in time for Saturday's home clash with Crystal Palace after bagging two goals for the Reserves in their 3-1 win at Nottingham Forest. The Owls second string line-up was one of the most inexperienced put out by Reserve Coach Mark Smith all season. Infact, the Scottish forward was the only player to have any first team experience to his name.

A penalty in as early as the second minute sent the Owls on their way after Kyle Jordan was brought down in the box. MacLean stepped up to score his first goal since his invaluable strike at Millennium Stadium the Play-Off final.

Twenty minutes later it was 2-0, this time MacLean was the creator after skipper Sean McAllister latched onto his through ball and tucked the ball away for his first of the season.

Forest grabbed one back just before the break but couldn't find an equaliser during the second period. The win was sealed five minutes from time when MacLean converted his second penalty of the night. A rewarding night for the former Rangers man who has now completed two 90 minute run outs this week after a behind doors friendly earlier in the week.

Half-time: Forest 1-2 Owls
