Match Report

Defeat at the Galpharm for Owls

The Owls lost their first league match of the season when they went down to a single goal at the Galpharm Stadium in Huddersfield. Mark Hudson's second half penalty was the only difference between the two sides, although Chris Adamson had already saved a first half spot kicked from Junior Mendes.

Reserve team coach Mark Smith was bitterly disappointed not to have won the game considering that the second string line-up boasted a handful of senior players in Maurice Ross, Lee Bullen, Graham Coughlan, Paul Heckingbottom and Craig Rocastle.

Half-time: Huddersfield 0-0 Owls

Mark Smith's post match comments:
"With the players we had in the team, I thought we should have been looking to win the game. As it panned out, we lost and conceded two penalties against a side that was relatively young compared to ours. The workrate and effort were there but were sometimes misguided and lacking quality in the opposition box."
