Match Report

Half-time: Reading 1-0 Owls

Paul Sturrock's post match comments:
"It seems strange to say after we have lost 2-0 but I am quite pleased. If we play like we did in the first half on other grounds we'll do well. Reading are a good side, brimming with confidence and better teams than us will come here and lose. I am hammering on doors trying to get in a new striker. Some managers just don't want to talk to me anymore."

Glenn Whelan's post match comments:
"It got pulled back and the big boy up front has knocked it onto me. I thought I'd actually cleared it until I saw it going in the net. I don't think there was much I could have done about it. I thought that we'd had the better chances until they got the goal but if you don't score goals, you're not going to win. We have to try and work to getting wins under our belt. It's hard place to come and not many people will get results."

Steve Coppell (Reading manager)'s post match comments:
"Credit to them, they came to have a go and the game was a lot more open than we have had recently. The critical moment in the game was a save by our keeper Marcus Hahnemann from Richie Partridge. We went straight down the other end and scored. If they had gone in front it might have been different."
