Match Report

Stalemate at the Firhill

The Owls kicked off their tour of Scotland with a 0-0 draw at Partick Thistle, ending Wednesday 100% winning record in pre-season. Three trialists were included in a starting XI that also had Chris Adamson in goal and captain Lee Bullen upfront with Adam Proudlock. There were also places in the team for Academy players Tommy Spurr and Sean McAllister.

Adam Proudlock looked the most likely to score for the Owls in the first half, whilst striker Steven McConalogue struck the post and forced Adamson to save on another occasion. Proudlock was having his first run around since breaking his leg last November.

Half-time: Partick 0-0 Owls

Paul Sturrock introduced more experienced Wednesday players in the second half, including Steven MacLean, Craig Rocastle, Glenn Whelan and Chris Brunt. Both Whelan and Brunt went close to scoring late in the second half but the game would go on to stay scoreless.

AnzOwls' verdict: Not a surprising result - this team was pieced together to give some game time for trialists, youngsters and new faces.
