Owls manage only a point from the Pilgrims
The Owls played out a forgettable 0-0 stalemate with fellow strugglers Plymouth Argyle on a cold Tuesday night at Hillsborough. Paul Sturrock welcomed back American full-back Frankie Simek into his defence but was to be without first choice striker Lee Peacock. In a bizarre move the Scot switched defender Graeme Lee into a last minute striking role.
He didn't quite turn out to be a Paul Warhurst, in the meanwhile youngster Barry Corr warmed the bench for three quarters of the game. Burton O'Brien once again got the nod ahead of Craig Rocastle, whilst on-loan Gaby Agbonlahor got another chance to prove himself from the start.
Neither side looked particularly worthy of winning the game although the best chance fell to substitute Ritchie Partridge, whose shot was denied by Argyle keeper Larrieur. That was just one of a total of three shots on target both sides could manage in a dull affair.
Only a point from this match has put pressure on Wednesday to win this weekend's home clash with Stoke - before two away trips to Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United and Hull City in the first two weeks of December.
Half-time: Owls 0-0 Plymouth
Paul Sturrock's post match comments:
"It was not a classic. In the cold and damp, it wasn't the best of games. I'm not going to watch the video, I assure you of that. We've got two days and I will be on the phone for most of them. But I will not bring jersey-fillers in."
Tony Pulis' ((Plymouth manager) post match comments:
"Overall, I think we deserved the draw, though I thought we could've done better. We still haven't got that balance right. When we've got the ball, we've got to be that little bit more relaxed.
In the last 20 minutes they got balls from every angle into the box. I thought we struggled to cope with it."
