Golden Eagle helps Owls to first win

This report from the BBC Football website:

Chris Eagles scored a free-kick to give Sheffield Wednesday victory over Leeds and their first win in seven matches. Eagles scored after Shaun Derry conceded a needless foul with just eight minutes gone. Neil Sullivan brilliantly saved a David Graham header, while Leeds substitute Robbie Blake shot inches wide.

Paul Butler then headed over and David Lucas saved Rob Hulse's header for Leeds, while Wednesday's Chris Brunt hit the post from 20 yards.

Half-time: Owls 1-0 Leeds

Paul Sturrock's post match comments:
"We played it down the channels and we got crosses in and we caused them problems. They came back at us and caused us all sorts of concerns but the defence held firm and the team has been absolutely magnificent. We got back to what we were good at last year - getting the ball down and getting in people's faces."
