Match Report

Half-time: Swindon 0-1 Owls

Paul Sturrock's post match comments:
"At 2-0 up the game should be killed off. You should play the game properly, in their half of the field and turn their back four. But we were still fannying about making wee square passes and playing nicey-nicey football - it's cost us dear."

"At the end of the day, it's our fault. We've lost six goals in two games. Normally, if my team scores three goals in two games, that's six points. I just don't understand the mentality of this football side. Yes, we are a young team but too many times we're getting caught with sucker-blows."

"I've never experienced this, but I can assure you I won't for very much longer."

"For 70 minutes we were absolutely superb. I don't think Tidman had a shot on goal. But all of a sudden the mentality changed."

"I feel sorry for the people who have travelled long distances to come here and stand in the rain and cold. They've seen their team cave in again and it's not good enough. We've got a big game coming up on Saturday. We've got to get back on the rails with a good performance and result."

Steven MacLean's post match comments:
"It's good to score - but I'd rather not score every week and win. It's a terrible result for us. The last 30 minutes were atrocious. We never played properly and all our good work was killed. We've showed what we can do in the last two games. If we can go and do that for 90 minutes, we'll murder anybody."

Andy King's (Swindon Town manager) post match comments:
"It was an incredible game and I have no words to express how I feel at the moment. I can honestly say in the time I've been here the performance in the final 20 minutes was the best I've seen in terms of football played. That's as good as we've had since I came here but I can't tell you why we didn't do that for the first 70 minutes."

AnzOwls verdict: A shameful result after being 2-0 up with a little over ten minutes left. A sign that this team is still mentally weak.
