Owls complete Rovers double

The Owls recorded a comfortable 2-0 win over local rivals Doncaster Rovers infront of this season's biggest crowd of over 28,000 at Hillsborough. The result completed a double over Doncaster for this season, after Wednesday had anihilated them 4-0 away from home back in December.

Captain Lee Bullen put Wednesday ahead on the stroke of half-time after heading in from winger Jon-Paul McGovern's cross.

With twelve minutes left youngster Drew Tablot made his mark scoring his first senior goal for the club. The 18 year old found himself in the right place to head the ball into the net at the Kop End and seal the points for Paul Sturrock's men.

Half-time: Owls 1-0 Doncaster

Lee Bullen's post match comments:
"It was a massive three points. I don't really like the Sunday games and playing catch-up on the teams who played a day before. It was a fantastic result that puts us into third place and now we can start aiming at the two above us to see if we can peg them back."

"It was perfect timing, we were a bit at sixes and sevens in the first half. They had one or two decent chances and Dave made a couple of good saves. Maybe it knocked the stuffing out of them. I felt we were pretty comfortable in the second half and I was delighted for Drew Talbot to get his first goal at Hillsborough."

AnzOwls verdict:
A comfortable home win for Wednesday. Drew Talbot - could this be the beginning of something big for both player and club?
