Match Report

Owls fail at home again

The Owls failed to win at home for the third successive time on Monday when Welsh visitors Wrexham stole three points in a 3-2 win. Alan Quinn's 2nd minute goal had sent Wednesday on their way, but Wrexham hit back with a goal before and two after the break. Paul Smith struck a 79th minute consolation goal for Wednesday, his first for the club, but it was in vein as Chris Turner's men suffered their first league defeat of the season.

Results elsewhere on the Bank Holiday Monday meant the Owls slipped down to 9th in the table, but they have a strong chance of bouncing back when they visit struggling Wycombe Wanderers on Monday. Wycombe have only picked up four points in their first four games, but are largely expected to struggle in Division Two this season. The game will be Wednesday's first live Sky Sports featured match of the season.

Half-time: Owls 1-1 Wrexham

Good points...
Terry Cooke
puts in another outstanding performance on the right-wing.
The fans turn out in large numbers again. 24,478 were there on Monday.
Alan Quinn scores an early contender for Owls' goal of the season.

Bad points...
The Owls have yet to win at home.
Wednesday's defence continues to look dodgy. 9 goals conceded in just 5 games.
Despite being in-form, Shefki Kuqi has an off-day missing three good chances.
Chris Turner uses the 3-5-2 formation again, which doesn't appear to be working.
