Lee grabs three in pre-season opener The Owls kicked off their 2003/04 pre-season campaign with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Dutch Third Division side VV Dovo. New boy Graeme Lee bagged himself a surprise hat-trick in his first outing with his new team mates, whilst Lloyd Owusu and trialist, and former Wednesday player, Gordon Watson sealed the win. Manager Chris Turner threw new signings Ola Tidman, Graeme Lee and Paul Smith straight into the starting line-up, whilst trialists Des Lyttle and Gordon Watson both got chances to impress. It took the Owls 42 minutes to break the deadlock though. Shefki Kuqi picked out Owusu in the middle with a right-wing cross and the former Brentford man finished well from inside the box. Half-time: VV
Dovo 0-1 Owls The goals began to fly in during the second half. All three of
Lee's goals came from Wednesday corners whilst old-boy Gordon Watson
found time to net a typical poacher's goal two minutes from the
end, much to the delight of some 200 travelling Wednesday supporters.
Wednesday are back in action again tomorrow against DOS Kampen in
their second and final game of their short Dutch tour.
