Owls make it a double dutch Wednesday made it two wins out of two after a short but successful tour of Holland during the past week. Chris Turner's men followed up their 5-0 thrashing of VV Dovo earlier in the week with a 4-0 victory over DOS Kampen. A couple of goals from promising young winger Richard Evans helped the Owls on their way, whilst the young front pairing of Grant Holt and Jon Shaw added one more each to the tally. Turner was able to once again give trialists Des Lyttle and Gordon Watson a run on the park, whilst also having a look at the talents of former Walsall midfielder Garry Bukran and Gavin Strachan. It's been reported that the Owls are unlikely to offer Bukran a contract at this stage. Whilst Wednesday's opposition hasn't been the best on the short tour of Holland, it has enabled Turner and his assistant Colin West to push the players through the fitness levels they need to reach before the season kicks off in a few weeks. This report from the official site: The Owls completed a comfortable victory in the second match of their short Dutch tour, beating the club where Jaap Stam began his career. The crowd of 800 - once again featuring a healthy number of Wednesdayites - saw an eventful opening spell for Grant Holt. Within the first two minutes of the match he won a corner, hit the post and required treatment from the Owls physio. After nine minutes, good work by Steven Haslam on the right provided a chance for Gordon Watson, whose shot took a deflection. Moments later the striker got clean through and slid his shot under the goalkeeper, only to see the number one recover to stop the ball on the goal line. The Owls took the lead after 15 minutes when Leigh Bromby's long ball was chested down by Watson in to the path of Holt. He neatly lifted the ball over two defenders into the path of Richard Evans, who made no mistake with a low shot from 15 yards. Holt continued to look lively and twice came close, but should have doubled the lead on 29 minutes. He fired straight at the keeper after Evans' ball into the box and a defender's error had left him in the clear. Wednesday were controlling the game and creating several chances without adding to their lead, and it was the home side who came closest to another goal, six minutes before the break. Manuel Vis wrestled free of Richard Wood's challenge but headed narrowly wide of Old Tidman's post. Half-time: DOS Kampen 0-1 Owls As with the game in Veenendaal 48 hours earlier, Wednesday's slender half-time lead provided the springboard for a better second period. They initially threatened with a Watson diving header from a terrific Jon Beswetherick cross but, after Jon Shaw replaced the recovering Derek Geary, to Owls extended their lead after 61 minutes. Gabby Bukran, who has been training with the SWFC squad, fed Holt, who cut in from the left, beat his marker and rounded the goalkeeper and another defender before rolling the ball into the empty net. Former Academy youngster Shaw saw his header cleared off the line before Evans scored a stunning goal after 67 minutes. A quick counter-attack ended with Watson feeding the Welsh winger, who unleashed an unstoppable 18-yard shot into the far corner. After Shaw shot wide from an Evans free-kick, he finally tapped home his first senior goal for the Owls in the 80th minute, after another Evans cross.
