Cherries complete double over hapless Owls

This report from TeamTalk.com:

Bournemouth strengthened their play-off bid with a comfortable 2-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday to extend their unbeaten run to five games. Carl Fletcher opened the scoring in the 11th minute, beating keeper Kevin Pressman with a 20-yard drive from a free-kick.

The Cherries doubled their lead in the 21st minute as James Hayter threaded a fine pass into the area and Steve Fletcher neatly placed the ball inside Kevin Pressman's right-hand post. As Wednesday battled to try and pull a goal back, Kim Olsen failed to make proper contact with a Derek Geary cross and Graeme Lee's shot was comfortably saved by Neil Moss.

Pressman was then called into action at the other end, saving a Stephen Purches effort at his near post. Owls midfielder Lewis McMahon put a couple of low drives narrowly wide early in the second half and Olsen headed just over. Top scorer Guylain Ndumbu had a shot saved by Moss and Adam Chambers saw an effort deflected wide.

Half-time: Owls 0-2 Bournemouth

Chris Turner's post match comments:
"They were two sloppy goals and we lost the game in the first 20 minutes. Some people feel too sorry for themselves and don't roll their sleeves up."

"We didn't take the game by the scruff of the neck. We need leaders, because there's not enough bite and we need a winning attitude. That defeat ends all hopes of the play-offs. I think the manager wants the play-offs more than the players."
