Cherries not so sweet for Turner's troops
The Owls suffered their first away defeat of the season, also their
first since March earlier this year, when newly promoted Bournemouth
struck a deadly 90th minute blow to steal all three points. Chris
Turner had drafted in two new faces into the Owls backline in Steven
Haslam and Jon Beswetherick, replacing the suspended Derek Geary
and dropping Irishman Brian Barry-Murphy.
But his Wednesday side struggled for the majority of the game
and never looked likely to come away from the game with much more
than a point. Infact, Bournemouth struck the woodwork no less than
four times throughout the game.
Wade Elliott's last gasp strike was probably no more than what
they deserved. For Wednesday's travelling support, it was to be
a long journey back north after seeing their side put out one of
their most dismal performances so far this season.
Half-time: Bournemouth 0-0 Owls
Good points...
The Owls'
travelling support is as good as ever.
Steven
Haslam makes a sound return to the starting XI.
Bad points...
The Owls
100% away record comes to an end.
The
referee's incorrect decision to award Bournemouth a free-kick
- resulting in their goal.
The Wednesda
midfield sorely misses Robbie Mustoe.
