Anything I can do for an injured owl?
I just saw an injured owl in a vacant lot in our neighborhood. I think he was hit by a car and he can’t fly. Anything I can do to help him?
I just saw an injured owl in a vacant lot in our neighborhood. I think he was hit by a car and he can’t fly. Anything I can do to help him? He used to visit our backyard quite often because we have alot of trees so I sort of feel like he’s a friend.
They are delicious fried.
Call the Fish and Game Commisioner they will come and get it and help.
call a pet shelter
Call an animal hospital, they should have a name of a animal rehabilitater in your area that will take the Owl and help it.
call a bird rehabilitation center,or the SPCA and ask them what to do. If you want to get the bird yourself and take it to a rehabilitation center for birds then you can. That’s if you know how to handle one.
careful;)
As soon as possible call an animal shelter!! Once my mom and I found a turtle on the road that had recently got hit we rushed it to the hospital and it survived!! they said if we hadn’t come as quickly it might have died! =O
If you call the police, they will contact the appropriate state or city department in charge of wild animals. Call the main switchboard number and not 911. An owl is a wild animal and an injured one is more likely to attack if it feels threatened. You or anybody else who is not trained to handle owls should not try to pick it up of touch it
Take him to animal services in a box. You can find animal control on Yahoo or Google for your city. Good luck! Thanks for helping out, I’m always happy to hear that.
yes you can find wildlife rehabilitaior almost all towns in the us have one or more…call info. google it or look in the phone book….they will take it and care for it and if/when it heals they will release it back to the wild!! too cool!! they will even go pick up the animal or like in my town the animal control will pick it up and deliver it to the rehab. place!!! good luck and please help the owl many times they make it and live normal lives =)
if you’re brave enough to get the owl on your own, get a soft towel and cover the bird. also try to cover his eyes. gently put him into something that you can transport him safely to a vet or animal hospital. or pick up a phone and call the authorities.
well it is illegal to handle owels but i dont really care we have em all over at our house and babies always fall out of the tree but u should feel it and make sure no bones are broke and check its wings if they are broke u should put a stick in it or on it to streighten it and then strap it in place and feed it live things u can find that it can eat and wait it out to see if it lives.
call a local bird rehab or animal control in your area, so it can get the proper care that it needs. It is illegal for you to try and treat it yourself, but you can definitely get it in the right hands.
